- Purdue Online Writing Lab > One of the first and best OWLs in existence offers resources for writers, including well over 100 instructional handouts and help for ESL students. It also provides a newsletter and links to other writing resources and OWLs.
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Writers' Workshop > Look under "Writer Resources" for a grammar handbook, information on citation styles, ESL resources, and some excellent writing tips.
- University of Wisconsin-Madison Writers Handbook > The UW-Madison Writing Center offers an overview of the writing process; info on common types of writing assignments; and some smart advice on grammar, style, and citing research sources.
- Strunk & White's The Elements of Style > A classic!
- Common Errors in English > Click "Go to List of Errors" to look up just about any error with which you've been struggling.
- Guide to Grammar & Style > Jack Lynch's thorough glossary of grammatical and stylistic rules and explanations.
